Ebook About
It started on a dance floor after too much tequila and ended with looking into the handsome face I never thought I’d see again. In person, at least. I saw his face all the time on magazine covers. To the world, he’s Parker Callahan—famous rockstar. To me, he was the boy I loved, the stepbrother who left me behind to follow his dreams. After our tequila-fueled encounter, he wants me back but that’s not a road I’m ready to walk down again. He broke my heart once, and even five years later, I’m not sure I could handle another blow. When a once-in-a-lifetime offer comes my way, even my broken heart isn’t enough for me to be able to turn it down. I agree to join the band’s tour and help Parker write his next album--but this time I’m not falling in love. This time I’ll walk away. But if there is one thing life has taught me, it’s that love never goes according to plan—especially when Parker is involved.

Book Blame it on the Tequila Review :

🔥🔥🔥 HOLY FREAKING HOTNESS!!! 🔥🔥🔥Yep! This has got to be one of THE HOTTEST books I have read in 2021! Fiona is the MASTER at slow burn FILLED with sexual tension ... and she did not disappoint! Parker and Nova are so hot, right from the beginning..... and they don't even actually get together until WELL into the book! So many things get in the way of this fantastic couple being together for many years! And the relationship that Nova had with all the guys in the band was so much fun to watch. I am going to need the story for every single one of them.... Starting with Ash!The girl crew is still in full effect with the Blame It On The Alcohol ladies.... I am in total awe of the friendship they share how no matter what they are there for each other. Parker was so much swoonier than I thought he was going to be. I thought that being some rock star his swagger would overpower any kind of swoony sweetness he possessed! I was SO wrong! That swagger was there.... but it was NOT going to overshadow the swoon factor!5 totally swoony stars..... 5 super hotter than hot 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶. There was a very seriously cigarette worthy chapter involved that I was ALL HERE FOR! And now.... I await the next Fiona Cole masterpiece!
Full disclosure: I won an eARC of this book in a giveaway, and as always when I receive an ARC, I feel obligated to leave a review. I feel bad leaving a less than enthusiastic review, but this book just wasn’t for me; as a matter of fact it took me days to power thru it.I have read quite a few rock romances (Nalini Singh’s Rock Kiss series, J. T. Geissinger’s Bad Habit series, Lick by Kylie Scott, Rise by Karina Bliss), and somewhat to my surprise, I like the genre, so that’s why I entered the giveaway in the first place, though I haven’t read anything by Fiona Cole before. My first problem was with the structure of the story. It is told in first person narrative from a dual perspective by the two main characters. It basically follows two timelines, one in the past, when Nova and Parker where in Highschool and met when their parents married. They develop sort of a secret and taboo crush on each other. The other timeline is in the present: after a traumatic event tore them apart, they meet again after 7 or so years and the two timelines run parallel throughout the book. The traumatic event is alluded to repeatedly, but we only learn the details of it at 85% and the process of getting there felt rather torturous. The two MCs come across as very juvenile and immature, and not only in the Highschool timeline, but also in the present one; as a matter of fact I was unable to see any character development from one timeline to the other. Nova is still running away from her problems and doesn’t say what she wants instead expecting Parker and her friends to intuit her needs and wants. Parker is unable to make decisions for himself and instead needs to be told by his manager what to do. They both suck at communicating their feelings. So, for instance after a big fight instead of answering Parker’s phone calls and messages Nova goes dark but thinks it is a good idea to ambush Parker at the Grammy’s (before their fight he asked her to accompany him) to make up in public where they are fodder for the paparazzi.Another problem was inconsistency of character: in the beginning Nova came across as (sexually) inexperienced (still a virgin) and somewhat inhibited. It’s mentioned that in the seven years she was apart from Parker she had two short relationships. Then, she is not only sexually very adventurous all of a sudden, but also has become an exhibitionist and is on board with having kind of a threesome with Parker and one of his band mates. Also, what is it with this strange American hang-up of only considering intercourse sex?! Oral sex is sex, too.Additionally, there were some semantic errors that bothered me quite a bit. I can overlook the occasional slip of the pen, but I find words used the wrong way harder to stomach; you don’t “absolve” a contract, you dissolve it, you absolve somebody of their guilt. And the sun “shone” while I “shined” my boots.Overall, the story dragged on, there was practically now external conflict, most of it was angst and childish avoidance behavior that could have been resolved with better communication. Normally when I am captivated by a story it plays like a movie before my inner eye, but here there were just words on a page and the book seemed to stretch interminably. 2 ½ stars.
